Once upon a time, this railway headed all the way to the Vesijärvi lake harbour in distance and joined with two other industrial rail branch lines, but those days are long gone now - with the trackbed having turned into a footpath after the current final terminus. A former industrial park, now a fair centre... no trains or carriages will ever move on these rail remnants again. The amputated branchline heads towards a still operational industrial area and the main rail. Platform which is very sparingly used to off-load passengers headed to the Lahti sport centre. The Lahti sport centre and the old platform.

More of the sport centre and the fair centre in the background. Pedestrian bridge on the top, car bridge below it, and the spot where various currently existing industrial branchlines meet. Manually operated switches. More switchwork - the rails are in use, but few trains come here. Even more, and some of the industries served by the branchline.

Going to the left to follow the single track which heads towards the mainline and a rail yard, amidst a residential area. Briefly looking back from the unguarded crossing. The main line in sight not far ahead. A large rail yard just the station, with the lonely track coming in from extreme left. A closer look, it was a very hot day.

Turning to the opposite direction, The main track on the extreme left and two other tracks. Back at the switches where the single track began, looking at the industrial area - didn't dare to venture further due to there being an manned depot not far ahead. Some ancient train cars in the distance, who knows what they are doing there. Back towards where I came from originally. Manual switch with instructions.

Near the Lahti city centre, this was once an industrial park with a railway running from left to right in front of the buildings. Hardly anything left apart from a vague idea of a track bed, but... some rails have decided to peek through. More rails next to a factory that has been turned into an educational facility long ago, most likely this has been a loading dock once. VR Class Hv1 steam lomotive, nicknamed 'Heikki', on stationary display in Riihimäki, Finland. Top speed 95 kph or roughly 57 MPH.

The quiet locomotive seems to mainly suffer from the beginnings of rust, instead of vandalism - even the incandescent bulbs are still in place inside the headlamps.

The cabin seems to have been left as-is, with the only addition being the protective wire mesh. Running gear. The now disused route which used to run from the Helsinki/Pasila station to the locomotive stables and engineering yard. Another angle showing the two unused track beds.

Third angle to the right of the second photo, showing how the engineering yard and former track area is being taken over by construction - the old protected train stables can be partially seen between buildings.
